FED: Consumer body fears falling food standards = 2

ANZFA managing director Ian Lindenmayer called on the ACA to make a constructive
contribution to the review and development of food standards, instead of complaining about a
lack of input.

He said the ACA was regularly invited to take part in food standard reviews, but had
refused to contribute to 57 of the past 60 projects. Its complaints reflected a serious
ignorance of what was proposed.

"It is a great pity that instead of making an effort to shape the new standards, they are
standing on the sidelines after the event and complain that their views have not been
adequately taken into account," Mr Lindenmayer said.
