NSW: Many working mums would rather be at home: survey

New findings show financial pressures are forcing mothers to work .. despite more than
two-thirds preferring to be at home with their children.

The results of a Galaxy online survey .. published in The Daily Telegraph newspaper
today .. shows only seven per cent of mothers return to work after having children because
they feel their career is important.

A similar proportion of mothers return to the workforce because they want a break from
the family .. but others are heading back to work to make ends meet.

Around one thousand adults were surveyed for the poll .. with one Sydney working mother
citing increased living expenses .. including the cost of petrol .. as part of the reason
she must put her children in care two days a week while she goes to work.
